Socially Liberal, Fiscally Conservative

As a Fiscal Conservative and Social Liberal, you dislike heavy government. What really gets you going, however, is government waste. You would like to see people responsible for failed government projects.
You recognize that all problems cannot be solved simply with the hammer of free enterprise. Some things do not conform well to “for profit” models if they are to deliver assistance to all. You believe it is government’s job is to protect the people through regulations that prevent excessiveness by corporations abusing their positions of power to the detriment of the people.
Socially, you believe strongly in the separation of state and religion. You believe in equal rights, are pro-choice when there is a choice to be made, and you support the idea of social safety nets that maintain the stability of society. You disagree with prohibition when it doesn’t work and strongly feel that decisions should be made logically and on the basis of facts, not emotions or faith.
Just summarized that from where I was reading, interesting and easy to agree with on most points. What do you think?

  7. I think seperation of state and religion is incredibly important, and its quite interesting to see that its happened more in britain, which has a monarchy, than america without one.

Not that the monarchy does anything anymore, but its still a point.

  9. politics could be good and bad at the end the people are to blame because the people have allowed themselves to get played never forget that the power is in the people and not the government

  10. Seems like a bit of an odd combination, but a solid view. I fall more toward the libertarian view; more things should be privatized and thrown to the market to create competition, but governmental agencies need to closely watch them. If one company is wasteful or slacking in providing a service, it should be dumped in favor of another. Keep up the posts!

  11. I'm generally in agreement with the post. I myself am a fiscal conservative and social liberal (aka a Libertarian). Let people do what they want with their lives.. just don't re-distribute my wealth. Let free market capitalism prevail.

  12. Yeah I am a Libertarian but just barely. I like to see myself as centrist. This is a great, and accurate post!

  15. There are differences in fiscal conservatism however. Do you believe that government should invest in the future through infrastructure and education? Or do you think the free market will handle the problem?
